Visas are not required for citizens of the member countries of the European Union, United States, New Zealand and Australia and EFTA member countries. An entry visa, valid for three months, is given upon arrival and can be extended. Citizens of other countries must obtain a visa at their nearest Albanian Embassy before travelling. Upon arrival by air, land or sea an entry tax must be paid, which, for EU and North American citizens is USD5.00. The amount varies for other nationalities. There is also a departure tax of USD10.00.
